If you are new to glass, then this class is a must first-step to entering the wonderful world of fused glass. We'll cover a bit of glass history, review the different types of glass creation (e.g., hot, warm, cold), basic safety information and tools, the basics of cutting and "breaking" glass along the score lines, and then finish out the class with a couple of simple projects to wet your appetite. This is fun, informative, and a great introduction before jumping into more complicated projects.
CLASS LENGTH: Two, 2-hour classes (total 4 hours)
CLASS DATES: TBD
CLASS MAX: 10 Students
All participants must sign a waiver to participate in classes. If you work with glass, then getting cut is always a possibility. We'll go over safety measures to limit the likelihood of injury, but each student is responsible for maintaining safe practices and ensuring their own safety by following guidelines. Guidelines will be emailed 30 days prior to class and must be attested and waivers signed AT LEAST 14 DAYS PRIOR TO CLASS. Otherwise, attendance will be cancelled.
REQUIRED ATTIRE: Long pants and closed shoes (e.g., no capris, shorts, sandals, or open shoes of any kind). Fabric for clothing should be cotton or natural fibers (e.g., not polyester or synthetics).
