By registering for a class, workshop, event, or by participating in activities at Red Swan Glass Art Center (“the Studio”), you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

Assumption of Risk & Medical Fitness

By registering for a class, students acknowledge and affirm that they are medically and physically able to participate in glass art activities. Glass classes involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Cuts and abrasions from glass.

• Burns from hot tools, kilns, or heated materials.

• Eye injuries from flying glass shards during cutting or grinding.

• Fatigue from extended periods of standing, sitting, or repetitive motion.

• Exposure to dust, airborne particles, or fumes when working with glass, powders, or chemicals.

Students participate voluntarily and at their own risk and are responsible for determining their personal fitness and limitations prior to participation.

Safety Equipment Requirements

For the safety of all participants, the following safety equipment rules apply:

• Eye protection (safety glasses) must be worn at all times when cutting glass or using tools that may produce glass shards, including but not limited to grinders, flat laps, sanding belts, tile saws, or glass cutters.

• Dust control masks or respirators must be worn when:

  • Sanding glass.

  • Using glass powders or materials that may become airborne.

  • Removing projects from kilns after firing (including exposure to dust from thin-fire paper or fiber paper, boards, or blankets).

  • Using chemicals or materials that may produce fumes.

Failure to follow safety equipment requirements may result in removal from the activity without refund.

Required Clothing & Personal Attire

Appropriate clothing is mandatory to help safeguard against injury. Students must wear:

• Clothing made of natural fibers (such as cotton); synthetic fabrics are not permitted

• Closed-toe shoes

• Long pants

• Long sleeves are strongly recommended but not required.

Students who arrive without appropriate attire will not be permitted to participate, and no refund will be offered.

Personal Responsibility & Conduct

It is the responsibility of each student to ensure their own safety by:

• Knowing and respecting their physical limits.

• Acknowledging limitations in knowledge or experience when using tools or materials.

• Following all studio safety guidelines and instructor directions.

• Asking for assistance when needed rather than proceeding unaided.

Students accept full responsibility for any injury, damage, or loss resulting from:

• Failure to wear appropriate safety equipment or attire.

• Unsafe or careless use of tools, equipment, or materials.

• Failure to ask for help or follow instructions.

  
  

Project Damage & Equipment Liability

• The Studio is not responsible for damage to or destruction of student projects caused by student error, misuse of tools, or failure to follow instructions.

• Replacement of broken tools, damaged equipment, or repair costs resulting from obvious negligence or unsafe behavior may be charged to the student responsible for the damage.

  
  

Removal from Class

Red Swan Glass Art Center reserves the right to remove any participant from a class or activity for unsafe behavior, failure to follow safety guidelines, or failure to comply with instructor directions. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

Acceptance of Terms

By registering for and/or participating in any class or activity at Red Swan Glass Art Center, students acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
