I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember when playing with marbles as a kid was a thing, but I do. While it was mostly a boys game in my neighborhood, I remember the gist of it. Through the years, though, I've always been fascinated by the marbles I found in the dirt when turning the soil for a garden. From Nashville, Tennessee to Washington State to Eagle River, Alaska and back to Chattanooga, marbles have been buried in the dirt in every yard I've turned for gardening. I can't help but wonder when they were made or who played with them and when they were lost. If only they could tell us their story.

When it comes to glass, marbles are still very much a thing and can be as unique a piece of art as any other form of glass shaped by flame or furnace. If you have images to share of marbles found or created, post them on our page on social media. We'd love to see them.

And for those in the Chattanooga area, if you know someone who does flame work and would like to teach a class at our shop, pass the message along. I'd love to hear from them.
